Premier League Night 14 Preview

Premier League Night 14 Preview – The Premier League of Darts heads to Aberdeen for Night 14 as the play offs draw ever closer. The first match-up of the night will be crowd favourite Peter “Snakebite” Wright against top four chasing Michael Smith. Peter’s Premier League campaign is over, there’s no chance he can get into the top four. However, he will want to put on a show for the Scottish crowd. It’s a must win game for Smith as he sits one place outside of the top four. Van Gerwen is four points clear of him in fourth. All the way back on night 6 was the last time these two met with Smith just edging it, winning the game 6-5. I think that it will be a more convincing display from Michael on Thursday. I see him comfortably making it through to the Semi Finals.

The Second game of the evening is one that always produces fireworks, its Luke Littler v Nathan Aspinall. Littler was the winner last week in Liverpool and moved five points clear of the world champ Luke Humphries at the top of the table. Aspinall is only one point behind Humphries after battering him last week before losing out to Litter in an absolute classic. The pair met each other last week and if this game is even 10% as entertaining as that game, we’re in for a treat. If i had to swing one way i would go for Aspinall getting revenge on Luke, but again i reckon this game goes all the way down to the last leg. With Nathan just nicking it.

Onto the next match. A repeat of last week’s Semi Final, Michael Van Gerwen against Rob Cross. Van Gerwen was not at the races last week. He averaged 90 and cross took full advantage of that, sweeping him aside winning six legs to two. This is a must win game for Michael because presuming Smith beats Wright, if Van Gerwen fails to win then Smith will be breathing right down his neck. Mathematically Rob could still make the Playoffs but he needs to basically win all his games and hope other results go his way. So he will just be playing with complete freedom and I think that could really benefit him. Which is why I’m going to go with a Cross win in this game.

The last Quarter Final of the night is Gerwyn Price against the Champion of the World Luke Humphries. Price had his fate decided last week when he lost to Litter in the Quarters. Again Like Rob Cross he will be able to just relax and try and put on a show for the crowd. Humphries is pretty much guaranteed a top four stop, however he will want to start putting in some good performances to give him some confidence going into the playoffs. Since Humphries won three nights in a row he has failed to pick up any points in three out of the five nights he’s played. I can see Luke putting things right in this match and winning the game. I do think it will be tight but I see Humphries going through.

Premier League Night 14 Preview – Who do I think will win ?

In the top side of the draw I think it will be Michael Smith making it through to the final. He’ll be right up for it as he needs to pick up points in order to get himself into fourth place. From the bottom half of the draw I see Luke Humphries making it through to the final. Then we will have a cracking contest in the Final but if i had to pick a winner in Aberdeen it would be Luke Humphries. I think he is due one and will be determined to get back on track.
