Littler wins in Aberdeen

Littler wins in Aberdeen and makes it four nightly wins in this year’s Premier League. By doing this, he also guarantees that he will be playing in the Playoffs in May. He said after the match that, “I’m just happy that my name has a Q next to it”. In Littler’s first match of the evening, he came up against a familiar opponent in Nathan Aspinall, which again, like most of the matches between this pair, went to a last leg decider. Luke came out on top beating Nathan 6-5. In the last leg, Aspinall was sat on 160. He hit the first two darts perfectly in the treble 20, before missing the last dart at double 20 to win the match. Then Littler hit his favourite double 10 to make his way through to the Semi Finals. See match stats below.

In Luke’s Semi final we saw him play some unbelievable darts against former World Champion Michael Smith. The teenage sensation averaged 110 and hit 85% of his doubles. Smith only got one dart at a double the entire match, he stood no chance! He also took out 3 ton plus finishes, which means half of the legs he won were by finishing on 100 or above. Both players held their throw in the opening two legs, but then in the third leg, Littler really got going when he took out 144 to make it two legs to one. Luke won the game 6-1 and comfortably moved into the final. See match stats below.

It was a repeat of the final last week, Rob Cross v Luke Littler. This time the game was a bit more entertaining. Littler started the match well. In the opening leg he broke Rob’s throw just like he did the week before in Liverpool. Cross broke straight back though and gained control of the match. Cross was showing signs of how he played in the quarter finals against MVG. In the fifth leg Rob failed to take out 100 and Luke then punished by hitting double 10 to break throw and go 3-2 up. It was a real battle this game with Cross breaking straight back again to make the game level at three legs a piece. Littler went on to win the game 6-4, hitting double ten first dart, yet again. One of the games of the night came in the quarter finals between Rob Cross and Michael Van Gerwen. This game started off electric. Both players exchanged blows in the opening six legs and found themselves at three legs each. The two of them were averaging around 110. It was brilliant viewing for the crowd in Aberdeen. Rob’s average did drop off to just below 100, however, Michael’s average was 108 when the game came to an end. Saying all that, it was former World Champion Rob Cross that got over the line, despite the difference in averages. He won the game six legs to five moving him through to the Semi Finals. Here’s how the table looks after Night 14. Littler guarantees playoffs spot and moves eight points clear at the top of the table. Cross just about keeps himself in with a chance of the top four, however it’s very unlikely. Smith moved two points off Van Gerwen in fourth place.
