Glory for Anderson in Germany, Premier League Night 13 Preview

Glory for Anderson in Germany

Glory for Anderson in Germany as his 10 year wait for another Euro Tour title came to an end. He defeated Ross Smith in the final, much to the delight of the German crowd. The game was tight all the way through, but when it came down to it, the “Flying Scotsman” delivered. In the 13th leg it was 6-6, then Gary took out 121, to break Ross Smith’s throw, and have the darts for the match. However, Anderson nearly threw it away, as he was miles behind Smith in the 14th leg. Smith did not do himself any favours though as he missed 7 darts at a double. This allowed Anderson to come back in leg and take out 43 for the title. See match stats below.

The Premier League heads to Liverpool for Night 13. The first match up is, joint top of the table, Luke Littler v Gerwyn Price. Littler did not have the best week last week as he was knocked out 6-3, in the quarter-finals, to Michael Smith. Price moved up into 6th place last week as he beat Rob Cross 6-5, before losing in the semi-finals to Michael Smith. These two came up against each other 3 weeks ago in the final, where Luke won six legs to three. I see this being a very similar game, resulting in Luke Littler progressing through to the semi-finals in Liverpool.

The second game of the night is going to be a treat for that crowd in Liverpool. It’s top of the table Luke Humphries, against last week’s winner, Nathan Aspinall. Humphries reached the semi-finals last week in Rotterdam before losing 6-4, to the eventual winner of the night, Nathan Aspinall. Nathan only sits three points behind Luke and a win could really help him close the gap. The last two times the pair have met, it has ended 6-4, with both players winning a game each. This contest could really go either way however, I am going to swing towards Aspinall going through.

The next game of the evening is Peter Wright v Michael Van Gerwen. Wright has had an awful Premier League Campaign. He’s bottom of the table, with just four points picked up. Last week he got battered by Aspinall 6-2 and found himself averaging in the 50s, after three legs. Van Gerwen is fourth in the table, only four points off top. Last week he disappointed the Dutch crowd as he lost 6-4 to Humphries in the quarters. I don’t think anyone will be shocked by who I’m going to say will win this. Michael should progress through to the semi-finals!

The last game of the night, is an all English affair, between Michael Smith and Rob Cross. Smith has had a decent Premier League this year, he’s in fifth place, two points off the playoffs. Last week he made it to the final, but then lost 6-4 to Aspinall. Cross won’t be happy with how this Premier League has gone, as it looks like he’s not going to be in the fight for the playoffs and have a chance to play in London. They haven’t actually met in the Premier League, since all the way back in night three. Rob came out on top winning 6-4. I think it will be a different type of match this time as it’s very important for Smith to win this game. I believe it will be a tight match but Michael will come out on top.

If you look at the top side of the draw, there’s three players that are in the playoffs. This could be very interesting to see what happens and who makes it through to the final. I’m going to go with Luke Littler making it through, but it definitely won’t be easy for the teenage sensation. In the bottom half of the draw, I personally think it’s going to be between the two Michaels, Michael Van Gerwen and Michael Smith. If I had to go with one, I would go with Michael Smith going through to the final, just like he did last week. I do see Smith falling short in the final just like last week. Therefore, Luke “The Nuke” Littler gaining a win in Liverpool.
