Ritchie Edhouse Crowned Champion – Last 16

Next up for Ritchie it was a much tougher test in Michael Smith. Edhouse won the first leg but after that it was dominance from Smith, as he went into the break 4-1 up, winning four consecutive legs. Straight after the break, Edhouse struck back. He took out 152 to make the game 4-2. The tenth leg produced fantastic entertainment. Michael Smith hit a blind 180, as he looked away when throwing the last dart. He tried it after that as well but missed the last dart, however, this did not affect Ritchie. He pinned double three, to go into the break level, at five legs a piece. Both players continued to battle it out and it was Smith that found himself 9-8 up and one leg away from victory. Ritchie managed to hold his throw, which took the game all the way to a last leg decider. Edhouse fired in a 180, which gave him the advantage over Smith, and allowed him to break his throw, to make it to his first ever Tv Quarter Final. See match stats below.

Ritchie Edhouse Crowned Champion – Quarter Final

In the Quarter Finals Ritchie came up against a very in form Gary Anderson. The pair of them started unbelievably, both averaging around 110. However, it was Edhouse who found himself 4-1, after being more clinical on the doubles. Both players continued to batter the treble twenty segment, but it was Ritchie who went into the second break, comfortably 7-3 ahead. Gary started to fight back. He managed to win back to back legs to make the game 9-5. Much to the delight of the German crowd, because of just how good this game was, they did not want it to end. Sadly, for everyone watching, Edhouse did end what was an unreal game of darts, when he hit double two. See match stats below.

Ritchie Edhouse Crowned Champion – Semi Final

It was the House derby in the Semi Final, as Ritchie Edhouse took on Luke Woodhouse. No one would have seen this as one of the Semi Finals before the tournament started. Just like he did against Gay Anderson, Edhouse went into the first break 4-1, playing some fantastic darts. Ritchie wasn’t quite reaching the heights he had been this tournament, but nevertheless, still playing decent darts. He went into the second break 8-2 up, completely in control of this game. Woodhouse did manage to string a few legs together, but wasn’t able to stop Ritchie Edhouse from reaching the Final, winning the game 11-5. See match stats below.

Ritchie Edhouse Crowned Champion – The Final

The Final of the European Championship was one I can put every penny on that no one predicted. It was Ritchie Edhouse v Jermaine Wattimena. It was a nervy start from both players, and it was Wattimena that went into the first break 3-2 up. After the break, Edhouse got himself together and started playing some good darts. The opposite happened for Wattimena, as it looked like he was feeling the nerves. Ritchie won five legs on the bounce, which took him from losing 3-2, to winning 7-3 going into the next break. Edhouse continued playing well, and in the thirteenth leg produced another ton plus checkout. He took out 144, to go one leg away from a historic triumph in Dortmund. Ritchie Edhouse took out 92, hitting a single twenty then two double eighteens to seal an 11-3 win, and become the 2024 European Championship winner. The 125/1 outsider completed what looked to be the impossible! See match stats below.
