Premier League PlayOffs Preview – The Premier League of Darts heads to the O2 Arena in London for the PlayOffs. Littler is heading there hoping to make his incredible debut year even more special. World Number one Luke Humphries will be determined to show everyone why he is the best in the world. Michael Van Gerwen heads to the capital looking to win his eighth Premier League. Finally “Bully Boy” Michael Smith will be looking to continue his good form to lift the trophy on Thursday night.

Premier League PlayOffs Preview – Semi Final One

The first game of the evening is table topper Luke Littler against Michael Smith who just made it through by beating Nathan Aspinall in Sheffield. It’s been an incredible campaign for Littler, topping the table with a whopping 40 points and four nightly wins. He’s produced some excellent darts and showed real maturity for his age. He’ll be looking to do the same in London on Thursday. Michael Smith kept fighting the whole campaign and found his form just at the right time to sneak into the PlayOffs. Those back to back wins against Aspinall in Sheffield and Leeds really helped him secure that fourth spot. Luke does not have a good record against Michael in the Premier League. Four out of the last five times Smith has come out on top. Smith has also shown in recent weeks that he can keep it together under pressure which he will need to do when he comes up against Littler on Thursday night because I can see this game going all the way down to the wire. However Littler also has shown no signs of feeling the pressure at all.

I think because of Smith’s record against Littler and the fact that Litter has never experienced the Premier League PlayOffs before could make this game a lot closer than you might think. I wouldn’t be surprised if Smith wins this one, but then again Littler could just turn up and play his best like he normally does and cruise through. I am going to go with Michael Smith going through to the final, i do believe this game will go the length, maybe even to a last leg decider.

Premier League PlayOffs Preview – Semi Final Two

The second Semi Final is the Champion of the World Luke Humphries playing the seven times winner of the Premier League Michael Van Gerwen. Luke has had an outstanding debut Premier League Campaign finishing second place and picking up four nightly wins. Humphries is also the only player to have a tournament average over a ton which is quite remarkable. Michael has had an almost weird campaign. He picked up three nightly wins out of the first four and was sitting comfortably at the top of the table. Then from there his form dropped and on multiple occasions he failed to pick up any points on a night. He did then secure another win on night eleven, this put him on four nightly wins the same as Humphries and Littler. Saying all this Michael normally turns up for the PlayOffs and thrives under the pressure at the O2 Arena. When Humphries is playing his best stuff he looks unbeatable, almost robot like. Van Gerwen has experience on his side as he has been in this position so many times and ended up winning seven of them.

Again just like the other Semi Final it’s so tough to call which way this is going to go. What I can tell you is this game will produce fireworks and both players will be firing in the 180s. Should be a really good watch for the crowd in London and the people at home. Both players will be confident and backing themselves to progress through to the Final. I do believe Humphries will turn up and play his best stuff, which leads me to believe that he will be the player making it through to the final. I think he will be too much for Van Gerwen on the night. Doesn’t mean to say MVG wont put up a fight and take this game all the way to a deciding leg.

Who will be crowned the Premier League of Darts Champion 2024

Now onto the Final, as i’ve said above I’m going with a Michael Smith and Luke Humphries Final. Both these players could win this, it’s impossible to call. If one player doesn’t turn up and the other one does then it could be embarrassing for the one that doesn’t. On the other hand if both players play their best stuff then we could be in for an absolute classic. Just based on overall form this year and being the World Champion I’m going to say Luke Humphries becomes the 2024 Premier League Champion. I think it would be thoroughly deserved. That’s just my best guess though, any one of these four could come out on top. They’ve all got the ability to and it is going to be fascinating seeing it all unfold on Thursday Night. Coverage starts from seven on Sky Sports.
