As predicted…Luke Humphries ‘Runs Riot’ in Leeds as he claims his fourth nightly win of this year’s Premier League. The Champion of the World changed his shirt to the Leeds United colours! Humphries is a massive Leeds fan, therefore, had the crowd on his side all night. He also changed his walk on song, this again went down well with the crowd as he walked out to, “I predict a riot” by Kaiser Chiefs. Luke started off a bit shaky in his opening match but it did not take long for him to settle into it. In the third leg, he took out 87 to go 2-1 up, then did not drop a leg from there. In the fifth leg, he took out 121 on the bull, which really got the crowd going. He won the game six legs to one and really put on a show for the crowd in Leeds, averaging just shy of 110. In the Semi-finals Humphries came up against Michael Smith, who is fighting for a PlayOff place. Humphries started the game in similar fashion to how he ended the last. He blew Smith away and found himself four legs to nil up. Both players took one of the next two legs but Humphries was still completely in control. Then Michael missed a dart at tops to make it 5-2 and give himself a fighting chance. Humphries stepped up to the oche and pinned double two, to take him through to the final. See match stats below.

There was a bit of controversy in the final as both Van Gerwen and Humphries pointed out that they could feel a breeze coming in. This happens sometimes in the big arenas as they can’t make sure that every single door is shut. Nevertheless, this had no impact on the excitement of the game. Both players exchanged early blows, with a lot of breaks of throw. Then in the sixth leg there was a moment of class from Luke as he took out 132, not in the conventional way. He went bullseye, treble 14 and then finished on double 20. This broke Van Gerwens throw and made the game 3-3. Both players kept breaking each other’s throw as the game headed to a last leg decider. The pair of them got a bit nervy towards the end and it seemed like nobody wanted to win it. Michael missed a match dart at bullseye to claim his fifth nightly win, this was before Humphries stepped up and took out 78, to win in Leeds.

The most important game of the night came in the Quarter-finals when Nathan Aspinall took on Michael Smith. It was almost a must win game for Smith, so the pressure was on. Smith started the game well, he broke Nathan’s throw with an 11 dart leg, to go 3-1 up. Aspinall is always up for a fight and he broke straight back in the next leg. Then in the sixth leg, Aspinall was sat on 78 and failed to take it out to hold his throw. Smith then stepped up and took out 136 to go 4-2 up in the match. Nathan’s doubles really cost him in this match. He missed three at double 18 to hand Smith the match. He pinned double tops, which moved him one point away from Nathan, with the pair to play each other next week. See match stats below.

Humphries Runs Riot in Leeds – Table After Night 15
Here’s how the table looks with one night to go until the PlayOffs. Littler, Humphries and Van Gerwen have already qualified. Wright, Price and Cross cannot make it to the PlayOffs. So it all comes down to next week between Nathan Aspinall and Michael Smith. They play each other in the Quarter-finals next week. Whoever wins that game will head to London, to play in the PlayOffs.
