Chizzy wins in Leverkusen – Dave Chisnall was the winner at the European Tour at the weekend. This took him up to seven European Tour titles, making him the fourth most successful player in the history of the Euro Tour. Chisnall’s first match of the weekend was against Luke Woodhouse and this was a cracker of a game. Both players were averaging just above the 100 mark, therefore putting on a fantastic game for the crowd. Luke actually found himself 5-3 up throwing for the match. However, this is the point where the match flipped and Chizzy went on to survive a match dart from Luke and win three legs on the bounce, to move into the last 16. See match stats below.

Chizzy wins in Leverkusen – Last 16 and Quarter Final
In the Last 16, Chizzy came up against Kevin Doets. Chinsnall did not play near as well as how he played in the opening match, but this did not stop him from beating the Dutchmen six legs to four, without any real struggle. See match stats below. Onto the Quarters and Chizzy came up against a much tougher opponent. The World number 10, Ryan Searle, stood between him and a semi-final spot. Both players averaged just above 90 and did not play their best stuff. Just like in round 2, Chisnall found himself 5-3 down needing to win three legs on the bounce and just like in round 2, he did just that, and ended up winning the game 6-5. See match stats below.

Chizzy wins in Leverkusen – Semi Final
The semi-final was a highly anticipated lineup between Damen Heta and Dave Chisnall. The pair of these can produce some mouthwatering darts when at their best, the crowd knew this, which is why the atmosphere cranked up a few volumes, when both of them walked out. There were a lot of English fans there because of the Euros being in Germany as well, so Chisnall was by far the crowd favourite. However, the game was a little underwhelming from a neutral point of view. Heta did not turn up and averaged not much higher than 85. Chizzy took full advantage of this and battered the Australian number one, 7-1. This moved him comfortably into the final, without really getting out of first gear.

Chizzy wins in Leverkusen – Final
It was an all English affair in the final, between Dave Chisnall and Ross Smith. Both the players started the final a bit edgy, trying not to make a mistake. The first break of throw came in the eighth leg when Dave took out 76 to put himself 5-3 up and in control of the final. Fast forward a leg and Chisnall is 6-3 up with a firm grip on the game, then up steps Ross Smith and takes out 144 to kick start his comeback. Ross managed to get the game back to six legs a piece before a moment of genius from Chizzy. Smith was sat on 32 ready to break Chisnall’s throw, and therefore have the darts to win the match but Dave Chisnall had other ideas. He stepped up to the oche and took out 132 to win the leg, unbelievable stuff and the crowd loved it! In the next leg, Chisnall had to keep his cool again. Ross was sat on eight, ready to take it to a last leg decider, but as we’ve seen so many times this weekend, and in this final, Chizzy did not let him have the chance, he took out 100 to win the European Darts Open in Leverkusen. See match stats below.
